Get in Control of Your Stress Response

The Ultimate hack for your nervous system

The process of immersion in cold water triggers a rapid release of adrenaline and other stress hormones, which can help regulate cortisol levels. The sudden drop in body temperature that occurs with cold water exposure also causes the body to release endorphins, which can help reduce stress and improve overall well-being.

Regular cold water therapy has been shown to improve the body’s ability to manage stress, leading to lower cortisol levels even in high-stress situations. This is because the body becomes accustomed to the stress-reducing effects of cold water exposure and is better equipped to handle stress in general.

Our sauna, on the other hand, provides a warm and relaxing environment where you can unwind and de-stress. The infrared heat from the sauna has many similar benefits (and is a sweet reward after a dip in the cold plunge.) The sauna use shows great improvement in cardiovascular health, pain and stress reduction, assists the body’s natural detoxification process, and is a great tool for athletic recovery.

How to Use the Nordic Circut

The traditional Nordic circuit is done by using the sauna before a cold plunge. However, you can definitely reverse the order depending on your goals.

Going from hot to cold is definitely a greater shock to the system because the sauna dilates your blood vessels, causing you to cool down quicker once immersed in cold water. This is ideal if your goal is to improve your body’s stress response. Sauna first and then cold plunge.

If your goal is to get a boost in energy levels, end with cold exposure since the sauna has a relaxation effect.

For a  goal of improving circulation we suggest trying the cold plunge first and then hop into the sauna.

There is no right or wrong way to do contrast therapy, and we encourage you to explore what you enjoy and benefit from the most.

Suggested circuit

20 minutes sauna, 3 minutes cold plunge, and repeat until there is just enough time to dry off and get dressed. We also have recommended variations in the room to guide you towards your goals.
